Decorah native Brett Van Sloten--a University of Iowa football player--had to wait through all seven rounds of the NFL Draft without hearing his name called.
But this story has a happy ending--Van Sloten signed a free agent contract with the Baltimore Ravens on Saturday night. Van Sloten was a second-team all-Big Ten selection in 2013. He was a two-year starter and team captain with the Hawkeyes. The Iowa offensive line allowed just 15 sacks last fall--the fewest in the Big Ten.
