Spectrum Thrift Store sets Grand Opening for May 2nd

Posted: Thu, Mar 20, 2014 6:48 PM

The Spectrum Network is finishing renovations on the former Wonder Hostess Bakery Outlet at 107 West Broadway Street in Decorah to transform a portion of the building into the Spectrum Thrift Store.

Spectrum Network representatives says the store will open in mid- to late-April.  The organization originally scheduled a grand opening on Saturday, May 3rd, including a 5K Family Fun Run/Walk.  However, the organization says it has learned the Decorah Fire Department had already scheduled a 5k run on that Saturday, so it is moving its grand opening celebration to Friday, May 2nd, and dropping plans to include a 5k run/walk.

"We are excited for the opening of this new store and to be able to serve Decorah and the surrounding communities," said The Spectrum Network Executive Director Dr. Deb Schott.  "100 percent of the proceeds from our thrift stores go directly towards supporting our client programs and helping us further our mission of helping individuals with disabilities gain independence.

Donations can be made at The Spectrum Network at 607 Washington Street, in Decorah.  The Thrift Store location will soon have a 24 hour drop off as well.  Items gladly accepted are clothing, decorations, small appliances, home décor, furniture in good condition and more.  We also collect donations at our Cresco store located at 206 North Elm Street.  For questions about what will and will not be accepted or questions about the business venture in general, call (563) 382-8401.

Spectrum Thrift Store is Phase I of the three phase business plan for the building, with the other two phases consisting of a food aggregation & cold storage unit and a future commercial grade community kitchen.
