County government candidates can begin filing nomination papers

Candidates for Winneshiek County offices can begin filing nomination papers on Monday.

Five offices will be up for election on Tuesday, November 4th: County Treasurer, County Recorder, County Attorney, District 1 Supervisor and District 2 Supervisor.  The Treasurer, Recorder and Attorney positions have four-year terms, while the two county supervisor positions are two-year terms.

Winneshiek County Treasurer Wayne Walter, County Recorder Teresa Bockman, County Attorney Andy Van Der Maaten and County Supervisors Dennis Karlsbroten and Floyd Ashbacher have all said they plan to seek re-election.

Wednesday, March 26th, is the deadline for candidates to file nomination papers.
