


Decorah Police responded to four traffic accident Friday afternoon and evening.
The first accident occurred shortly after 1:00 p.m. on Highway 9 at Old Stage Road when 60-year-old Scott Onstad of Spring Grove was stopped on Highway 9 at the Old Stage Road traffic light, but his foot slipped off the brake and his car hit a car driven by 39-year-old Amy Seitz of Decorah, causing $1,500 in damages.
Just before 2:00 Friday afternoon 44-year-old Troy Whitehill of Decorah lost control of his car on Twin Springs Road. The car slid into a ditch and rolled over onto its top. The vehicle suffered $10,000 in damages, but Whitehill was not injured.
At 7:30 Friday night 24-year-old Eleazar Diaz of Postville was turning left onto Highway 9 from Old Stage Road when 26-year-old Aaron Palmer of Madison, Wisconsin was unable to stop on the 100 percent snow covered roadway and struck Diaz. Diaz was ticketed for not having a drivers license and not having insurance. The accident did $13,000 in damages.
Just four minutes later police were called to Highway 9 near Montgomery Street, where 49-year-old Patricia Casteron had skidded off the road into a ditch, hitting a sign. Road conditions were snow and ice-covered at the time. No tickets were issued and Casterton was not injured.
