Two Luther students receive study abroad scholarships

Two students at Luther College have earned scholarships to help pay for their studies abroad.

Luther College junior Michona Johns, of Edina, Minnesota, received the prestigious Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship, sponsored by the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.  She will receive $3,500 to apply toward her study abroad program costs. Johns will study abroad in Malta during the 2014 spring term. She is majoring in psychology and French at Luther and is a 2011 graduate of Richfield Senior High School.

Luther College junior Katie Hale of Marion, Iowa, received a $2,000 Dr. Carlos E. Castaņeda Memorial Scholarship.  She will study in Paris, France, with the International Studies Abroad program for the 2014 spring semester.  Hale, a 2011 graduate of Linn-Mar High School, is majoring in English and French at Luther.
