45-year-old Jay Jermier of Decorah will go on trial January 8th on one count of vehicular homicide, a Class B felony.
Prosecution and defense lawyers met Tuesday with the judge in the case. They have set aside five to six days for the trial. Lawyers will select a jury from a pool of 60 potential jurors.
Jermier is accused of having a blood alcohol reading above the legal limit when his motorcycle went out of control on Highway 52 just north of Calmar on September 28th last year. A passenger on Jermier's motorcycle, 44-year-old Trish Taylor of Calmar, was killed in the crash.
