The Decorah School Board was updated on expanded mental health services for the Middle School and Carrie Lee at their meeting Monday night.
Beginning in January a counselor from Northeast Iowa Behavioral Health will be available one day a week for "in building" services. Essentially the program will be one of providing space for that agency's counseling services. If a student is not already engaged with Northeast Iowa Behavioral Health, then a school counselor would facilitate that referral as appropriate. Staff have expressed a desire to see more group counseling provided for that age group, and they will pursue that issue at a later date.
