As 8,000 people gather on the Luther College campus this weekend for the five performances of "Christmas at Luther," the search for the next president of the college is moving forward.
The presidential search committee is in its "quiet phase" of the presidential search. It has developed a list of over 50 potential candidates. A significant number of these candidates are already employed in higher education, so the Luther Search Committee is making sure it protects the candidacy of people who are currently in another position.
Search committee members have resolutely refused to put a deadline on their process, but the committee will be narrowing its list of candidates at some time in the future, with a view towards eventually inviting finalists to campus and submitting the nominees for review and election by the Board of Regents.
