A record 18 Decorah HS students chosen for All-State

A record number of 18 Decorah High School musicians have been selected as members or alternates of the 2013 All State Music ensembles.

Decorah HS band students chosen were Clara Kittleson on flute, Maleah Garwood on euphonium and Brenna Hermann on oboe (as an alternate).  

Orchestra students chosen were Gabrielle Bruns on viola, Trevor Philllips on bass, Tim Winter on cello (as an alternate) and Katelyn Yee on cello (as an alternate).  

Choir students selected were sopranos McKenzie Snyder and Aidan Spencer-Berg; altos Rita Guzman and Carli Galligan and Autumn DeLong (as an alternate); tenors Brad Suhr and TJ Misseldine and basses Blake Taylor, Nick Vande Krol and Adam Knight.

One orchestra student, violinist Rachel Dougan, was chosen from a recall audition, while three choir students--bass Kaleb Michel-bass, alto Maria Mertzenich and soprano Jada Vanden Brink--were chosen for recall auditions.

The All-State Music Festival will be held November 21st through the 23rd at Iowa State University in Ames.
