Our recent news story about Winneshiek County receiving a $487,025 REAP grant to establish "The Neste Valley Wildlife Area" led Wanda to ask a very simple question: "So where exactly is this wildlife area?"
Mr. Answer Person says: "The property in question has not yet been purchased by Winneshiek County (that's what the grant is partly for), so county officials don't want to give a specific location. However, this much can be said about the property in general:
The Neste Valley is located just a few miles outside of Decorah, south of Highway 9 and west of Highway 52. This scenic property will be used to build a link between the Prairie Farmer Trail, which runs from Calmar to Cresco, and the Trout Run Trail, which circles Decorah.
