The conference center at the Iowa Dairy Center just south of NICC Calmar has been named in honor of two dairy industry leaders.
The meeting space will be named the G. Joe Lyon and Maynard Lang Midwest Dairy Association Conference Room in acknowledgement of the leaders' lifelong leadership and contributions to the local, state and national dairy industry.
Lyon was the principal player in developing Lyon Jersey Farm, which is among the most recognized and appreciated Jersey herds in the country. In addition to his work as a founding member of the National Dairy Board, Lyon represents Midwest Dairy Association on the Midwest Dairy Foods Research Center Advisory Board and played a critical role in adding Iowa State University to the Midwest Dairy Foods Research Center in 2010.
Lang is a long-time Brooklyn dairy farmer and supporter of the dairy industry and 4-H. Lang has served as chairman of the National Dairy Board, the Midwest Dairy Association, the Central Division of Dairy Farmers of America, the Iowa Dairy Industry Association and Midland United Dairy Industry Association.
