One day after the City of Decorah received tentative approval of a $100,000 Iowa DNR REAP grant to help with the Freeport trail extension, Winneshiek County's application for REAP funding has won partial approval.
A DNR review committee has endorsed awarding a $487,025 grant to Winneshiek County. The grant proposal was for $700,000.
As with the City of Decorah grant application, the recommendations are not final until October 10th, when the Natural Resource Commission (NRC) must vote to approve the recommendation.
