It's official. The Freeport Cemetery Association has donated to Winneshiek County a small slice of property that will allow the Freeport extension of Trout Run Trail to take a more direct path past the cemetery.
Winneshiek County supervisor Floyd Ashbacher and Freeport Cemetery Association Secretary/Treasurer Kevin Lee met Tuesday with four members of the Trails From Freeport group.
Trails from Freeport still must raise $55,000 in local contributions to meet the required local match for the grants it has been receiving. The group will hold a car wash at Brite Spot #1 behind Kwik Star on October 6th. On December 2nd Rubaiyat will host another wine and beer sampling, this time on the second floor of T-Bock's.
