The "Salad Suspect" turns out to be legitimate

Decorah residents, you can relax now: Police have checked out the reports of a man going door to door in town and offering people free salads--and they say he's legitimate.

Several people last week reported being approached by a man who asked if he could make them a salad.  The man entered homes if allowed--and made a salad, as promised.

Decorah Police say the reports have been traced to a man who wanted to educate people about eating and cooking healthy. 

The man told police he is no longer in the Decorah area.  Police did remind him he will need a peddlers permit if he returns to Decorah.
