The Northeast Iowa Drug Task Force's prescription drop off day on Saturday brought in a huge amount of prescription drugs.
The Task Force set up 23 different collection points in Allamakee, Chickasaw, Clayton, Fayette, Howard and Winneshiek Counties. A total of 711 pounds of prescription medicine was collection.
The Task Force arranged the drop off day because prescription drug abuse is a growing problem in America. In Northeast Iowa, the Drug Task Force has seized 455 units of illegally used prescription drugs in the past nine months.
