Gundersen Lutheran Medical Foundation has joined forces with the Kohl's Corporation to create a comprehensive website— www.togetheragainstbullying.org—to prevent and reduce bullying.
The website contains strategies for parents and children to prevent bullying; activities to reduce mean behavior while strengthening a child's understanding of kindness, empathy and friendship; videos and self-assessment tools; and facts about cyberbullying, myths of bullying and ways to be an "upstander"
Bullying is a growing problem among the nation's youth. Approximately one third of children will be victimized by bullying.
In addition to the website, Gundersen Lutheran and Kohl's will put on 30 anti-bullying presentations in Iowa, Minnesota and Wisconsin in 2013. Both the in-person presentations and the website are possible thanks to a grant from Kohl's Department Store.
