The Winneshiek County Sheriff's Department is warning about a phone scam that has targeted at least one county resident.
A prerecorded message stated that they needed to double check the personal information they have on file. If someone responds, they are switched over to a live person who asked for credit card information.
Sheriff's deputies say NO financial institutions will call to double check your personal financial information over the phone. "They have all of this information on file and never will need to double check to see if they have your correct personal information," says the Sheriff's Department.
