29-year-old Raymond Delagarza of Decorah is a free man.
Delagarza was arrested in October on attempted murder charges. Police said he had tried to inflict serious injury on a Decorah woman on July 18th. The woman was expected to testify in the criminal case against Delagarza.
But a Bremer County traffic accident on Tuesday, December 4th, claimed the life of the woman. That led the Winneshiek County Attorney's Office to file a motion to dismiss the attempted murder charge against Delagarza, since the main witness had died.
A judge last week approved the motion and set free Delagarza.
