Helping Services says 2012 Holiday Lights set records

Helping Services for Northeast Iowa officials say the 2012 Holiday Lights, Magical Nights event was their most successful ever.

The drive-through holiday light show runs from Thanksgiving through Christmas at the Decorah Campground.  Started in 2005, it is now the primary fund-raising event for Helping Services.

Helping Services officials say almost 2,700 cars containing 11,000 people toured the displays this past holiday season.  There were several new displays that received good public reaction.  A free-will donation at the gate allows everyone to enjoy the lights, this year bringing in the most donations ever—over $20,000. In a time of uncertain federal funding, these donations are a welcomed gift.  The event is now the primary fundraiser for Helping Services.
