Decorah Police were called to two traffic accidents in the wake of this week's snowstorm.
At 9:15 a.m. Thursday 49-year-old David Thorsten of Decorah was unable to stop his car at the Highway 9 and 52 intersection and slid through, striking the side of a State DOT snowplow driven by 54-year-old Ken DePeuw of Decorah.
The accident caused a total of $9,000 in damages. Neither driver was injured. Thorsten was not ticketed, although police say the fact that he was driving too fast for conditions was a contributing factor in the accident.
(Note: This corrects an earlier story that switched the drivers): Two hours later 23-year-old Kelsey Stockman of Fort Atkinson pulled out onto Commerce Drive from a driveway and struck a car driven by .83-year-old Virginia Sacquitne of Decorah. The accident casued $2,000 in damages, but no injuries.
