It's our favorite part of running decorahnews.com--tracking down answers to reader questions.  Here's a look back at our favorite "Ask Mr. Answer Person" questions of 2012:

10) Proving that we get asked waaay unusual questions, a reader in August wanted to know if any veterans of the War of 1812 were buried in Winneshiek County.  Amazingly, we found an answer: http://www.decorahnews.com/archived-stories/2012/08/3344.html

9) Why would Google Maps show two non-existent campgrounds as being located in the City of Decorah? http://www.decorahnews.com/archived-stories/2012/02/1956.html

8) Maybe this was a philosophical question: "Is the 'Yellow Building' at Wellington Place really yellow?"  http://www.decorahnews.com/opinion/stories/130.html

7) decorahnews.com readers have sharp eyes!  One of them wondering about a "ginormous" helicopter at the Decorah Airport: http://www.decorahnews.com/opinion/stories/151.html

6) Reader questions can lead to Mr. Answer Person getting an education--for instance, about LED traffic lights

5) It's the most persistent question we get--was that a cat in the bald eagle's nest?  http://www.decorahnews.com/archived-stories/2012/04/2424.html

4) Sometimes the reader questions are just plain fun, like the one that wanted to know what was the steepest paved road in Decorah: http://www.decorahnews.com/news-stories/2012/12/4348.html

3) And sometimes Mr. Answer Person gets stumped, such as when a reader asked him if a drone was flying over Decorah in June: http://www.decorahnews.com/archived-stories/2012/06/2966.html

2) It's always a little amazing the questions we get asked--such as whether it was true the Upper and Lower Dams were going to be blown up: http://www.decorahnews.com/opinion/stories/143.html

1) But our favorite reader question of 2012 came in November from Adam, who saw a car driving over the Trout Run Trail Bridge and asked, "I was just wandering if the new trail was now open for local traffic?" http://www.decorahnews.com/opinion/stories/162.html
