Decorah firefighters called to Gemini plant Thursday night

The Decorah Fire Department was called out around 10:00 p.m. Thursday for an alarm at the Gemini Inc. plant in Freeport.

Gemini personnel had located a small fire in a collection tray above the metal foundry.   A fire extinguisher was used on the fire by Gemini personnel.  The fire then reignited.  The fire was then extinguished with a dry chemical extinguisher by DFD personnel. 

On further inspection it was found the fire has spread through the ventilation system to the Baghouse Collection System located outside the building.  Burning filters were removed and the remaining fire inside the Baghouse was extinguished.

No damage estimate was available and no injuries were reported.
