17 Decorah High School musicians earn All-State honors

17 Decorah High School musicians have been selected to participate in the All State Music Festival.  The students were among 57 Decorah High School musicians who auditioned for the Festival. The students prepared difficult musical selections and then competed for spots in the All-State ensembles with students from east-central and northeast Iowa, including the Dubuque and Cedar Rapids schools.
 
Selected to participate in band ensembles were senior Alex Bishop as first alternate trumpet and senior Katie Ott on clarinet.

Selected for orchestral ensembles were senior Drew Schwartz on cello; senior Lucas Blekeberg on violin; senior Claire Breitenstein on bassoon; senior Aubrey Ellickson on violin; and senior Eric Fulsaas on string bass;

Selected for choral ensembles were senior soprano Bretta Krieg; senior soprano Hannah Leeper; sophomore alto Linnea Kephart; junior alto Maria Mertzenich; junior tenor Brad Suhr; junior tenor Nick Vande Krol; senior tenor Michael Peter; senior bass Andrew Sorenson; senior bass Hans Holkesvik and senior bass James Ostlie.

Four Decorah High School students were selected for a recall audition: junior cellist Rebecca Alcock; junior alto Rita Marie Guzman; junior soprano Alexis Hove and junior bass Kaleb Michel.
