


The Iowa State Patrol has now released some details of a fatal traffic accident in Waukon on Sunday afternoon. The accident occurred shortly after 1:00 p.m. on Highway 76 near Rossville.
Police say a pickup driven by an unidentified driver crossed the center line of the highway and struck head on a vehicle driven by 29-year-old Patrick Egan of Waukon. A fire erupted underneath the pickup and engulfed the vehicle. A passerby hooked a chain onto Egan's vehicle and pulled it back from the fire.
Patrick Egan Jr. was injured, as were Patrick Egan Sr., 31-year-old Dustin Egan and 10-year-old Lance Egan. All four were taken to Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon.
Because of the fire to the truck, authorities have yet to be able to make a positive identification of the driver of the truck.
