Decorah police are investigating an assault

A Decorah woman has reported being assaulted on Saturday.  Police say the woman was walking through Wayside Park at Fifth Avenue and College Drive around 2:00 a.m. Saturday when she was attacked by an unknown male, getting thrown to the ground.  The woman fought off the attacker and ran away.

Police arer warning residents, especially women, to use care when walking late at night.  Police are urging them to try to remain in groups or at least walk with another person.  Police say you should walk in well-lit, well-traveled areas and if possible get a ride from a friend or from a taxi.  If you feel you're being followed, call 9-1-1 immediately.
