City council approves spending money on goal-setting

The Iowa Institute for Public Affairs will be hired to help the Decorah City Council do some goal-setting.

The agency will be hired for around $1,700 plus travel, meal and lodging expenses.

The decision was not without some discussion.  City Council member Paul Wanless questioned the need to spend that much money.  City council member Gary Rustad suggested tabling the recommendation to allow enough time to check on the cost of using the Luther College Round Table Room instead.

But City Council member Carolyn Corbin said the price quoted was fair--and three other city council members (Vagts, Franzen, Fischer) agreed with her, passing the spending motion on a 4-3 vote.
