The North Winneshiek School has met the Adequate Yearly Progress goals set by the federal government in three out of four areas.
North Winneshiek School Board members were told Monday night that 91.30 percent of North Winn 3rd through 5th graders were proficient in reading, while 86.96 percent were proficient in mathematics.
6th through 8th graders at North Winn had a mixed report, however. 80.43 percent were proficient in mathematics, but only 56.52 percent were proficient in reading. That meant North Winneshiek School did not meet the Adequate Yearly Progress goal set by the federal government in reading.
North Winneshiek students did do well when compared to students nationwide on the Iowa Assessments Composite Scores from January 2012. 3rd grade students achieved at a 4.4 grade equivalent; 4th grade students at a 5.3 grade equivalent; 5th grade students at a 6.3 grade equivalent; 6th grade students at a 6.6 grade equivalent; 7th grade students at a 7.7 grade equivalent; and 8th grade students at a 9.2 grade equivalent.
