Decorah is not the only town named "Decorah"--sort of

If you're like me, you believe that Decorah, Iowa is the only "Decorah" in the country.

Well, prepare to have your world rocked!  I've just discovered another U.S. town named "Decorah."  Worse yet, it is "Decorah, Idaho," something sure to add to the existing confusion between Iowa, Idaho and Ohio.

Decorah, Idaho is near Sheep Rock, Idaho--and you have to drive along "Forest Road 105" to get there, which should give you some kind of idea of the country we're talking about.

Anyway, when you leave Cuprum, Idaho, go over a summit and then drop down into Bear Creek, you're close to Decorah, Idaho.  If you continue a half-mile down Indian Creek, that's where you will find Decorah.

It's at this point that I should mention that Decorah was an old mining town and, to be honest, there isn't anyone living in the town anymore.

In fact, there's not a lot of historical information that has survived about Decorah, Idaho.  All I could find was this one piece of news: the town was considered a "fun town" for miners to visit.

So Decorah, Iowa probably doesn't have to worry about getting eclipsed by Decorah, Idaho.  That is, unless the mining industry experiences a boom in Idaho.
