Thomas appointed to dairy advisory board

State Representative Roger Thomas of Elkader has been appointed to the State Dairy Advisory Board. 

The Dairy Advisory Board consists of two State Senators and two State Representatives, along with members from the dairy industry, dairy support groups and producers and the State of Iowa. The purpose of the committee is to keep all groups, along with the public, informed if potential health or environmental issues should arise in the dairy industry.

"With Iowa facing a severe drought it is important for us to look for ways the state can assist those who are in need of additional help," said Thomas.  "With the board planning to meet next week, I hope we can find ways to offer assistance to those struggling during these dire conditions."

Following the Dairy Advisory Board meeting, Representative Thomas plans to host a listening post to hear from local farmers, and also provide them with information regarding assistance that is available from state and federal agencies.
