City renews its lease agreement with Winneshiek County for dispatching services

Winneshiek County and the City of Decorah operate a Joint Dispatch Center for police communications.

The dispatch center is located adjacent to Decorah City Hall, so the county pays rent to the city and a share of expenses.

Monday night the Decorah City Council approved a renewal of the services and lease agreement with Winneshiek County.  Those payments have been adjusted to reflect the percentage of calls to the dispatch center from county residents.  Based on those figures, the county will pay 45 percent of the cost of salaries and benefits of the dispatch staff--or $153,000 for this fiscal year.  The agreement approved Monday night also calls for the county to pay $6,000 a year in rent.
