Sidewalk upgrades happening all over town

The City of Decorah is looking at a regular program of upgrading existing sidewalks and installing new sidewalks throughout the town.

But in the meantime, sidewalk construction crews are busy this spring.  Skyline Construction has been hired to work on a number of sidewalks in the city, according to City Engineer Lindsay Erdman.  Erdman says some of the work is to bring sidewalks up to the requirements of the Americans with Disdabilities Act, but there are also new sidewalks being built.

Erdman says the work should run through the end of June and will affect neighborhoods all over town.

In addition to the sidewalk work, residents will notice that trenching is currently underway for the long anticipated Metronet  project that will connect fiber optic cables for schools and other public entities.
