Decorah Planning & Zoning Commission wants to update the city's sidewalk ordinance

Members of the City of Decorah's Planning and Zoning Commission have started taking a look at city ordinances having to do with sidewalks.

Some of the legislation dates to 1987.  P & Z Commission members say it's time to review the ordinances and update them to current standards.

Once the changes have been suggested and approved by the Decorah City Council, the Planning & Zoning Commission would then tackle the question of how to fill in sidewalks in areas where none currently exist.  It is possible the commission would divide the city into sections or zones and recommend sidewalk projects on a yearly basis.
