For the first time ever, the Decorah Viking Boys Tennis hosted a tennis meet at the new tennis courts on Thursday.
Coach Reg Laursen offered these comments: "It is so nice to have these courts. The construction was done well— and the courts are in super shape. It's a good location, across from the high school and next to John Cline Elementary – who knows—maybe some of the John Cline students will see us playing tennis and will want to play tennis themselves."
Laursen also said having six courts instead of four is a much better for the Decorah Tennis programs. Said Laursen, "It is a much better practice situation for both the boy's and girl's teams since we share the same season in Iowa. Plus the configuration of six in a row instead of two stacked on two (or three on three) is much better for meet viewing and coaching access."
The courts were a joint project of the City of Decorah and Decorah Community Schools.
