Winneshiek Medical Center has published a letter to the community in Tuesday's edition of the Decorah Public Opinion.

The letter states that WMC Board Chair Ben Wyatt did not use his influence to help his tow sons and two daughters-in-law get jobs at the hospital.

Several decorahnews.com readers had raised the issue.  Our news story (http://www.decorahnews.com/news-stories/2012/04/2338.html
stated "It is our opinion there is no conflict of interest here."

The letter published in the newspaper explains how hiring is handled at the hospital, saying Wyatt's daughters-in-law were hired by Decorah Clinic before Ben Wyatt joined the WMC Board, while the sons "were hired on their own merits and are both excellent employees."

The letter concludes, "Winneshiek Medical Center strongly supports Ben Wyatt and his family.  We are indeed very fortunate that Ben has been willing to serve the community for so many years as a WMC Board of Trustees member.  We thank him for his dedication and thoughtful service and encourage you to do the same."
