Toys Go 'Round is starting a fund drive

Toys Go 'Round Toy Lending Library is kicking off the celebration of their 20th year with a "20 Toys for 20 Years" fundraising campaign.  The group is asking the community to make a cash donation towards the purchase of new toys and upkeep of the toy library. 

Toys Go 'Round will also be hosting a garage sale the 2nd week in April and is seeking donations of good, used toys to sell at the sale.  This sale has become an annual event with the meeting room at the Decorah Public Library jam-packed with toys for sale.  It has also become a good way for the toy library to add to their inventory as donated toys which are not already in the toy library will be added to the inventory.  The toy library is a 501(c)3 non-profit and any donations made to the toy library are tax deductible.

The toy library opened its doors in 1992 with less than 50 toys which were displayed on milk crate and board shelves.  Today it boasts over 1,000 toys.  The toys may be checked out by families, grandparents, child care providers, schools and anyone who is seeking a variety of tools for children to learn from through play. 

Membership to the toy library is open to anyone in the Winneshiek County area.  The membership fee is $35.00 for grandparents and $45.00 for others.  The library also offers a 3 month membership at $15.00. 

The toy library is located in the lower level of the Decorah Public Library at 202 Winnebago Street.  An unlimited amount of toys may be checked out for a 3 week period and renewed once.  Toys Go 'Round is open Tuesdays and Saturdays 10:00-1:00 and Wednesdays and Thursdays 3:00-7:00.  If you have questions about the toy library or wish to make arrangements to donate toys, call the toy library at the Decorah Public Library during the toy libraries hours of operation at 563-382-3717.  If you would like to make a monetary donation to the toy library, please do so by mailing to Toys Go 'Round, 202 Winnebago Street, Decorah, Iowa   52101.
