That Secret Service agent who got arrested for drunk driving in Decorah while stationed here for President Barack Obama's visit in August has entered a no contest plea to the charge.
40-year-old Daniel Valencia entered an "Alford plea" to the charge, which is a legal procedure under which someone does not admit to the crime but agrees to be sentenced.
The judge in the case sentenced Valencia to two days in jail--with credit for the two days he spent in jail after his arrest. But while Valencia won't spend additional time in jail, he will be required to successfully complete a State of Iowa weekend alcohol control program. He also was fined $1,250 and all other applicable fees and surcharges, including court costs.
