Strawberry Point man to run for Iowa Senate

Strawberry Point resident Mike Breitbach has announced he is running for District 28 of the Iowa Senate.

Breitbach is a graduate of Edgewood-Colesburg High School and of Loras College.  He co-founded Trans Star Trucking and is a partner of Smith Insurance in Strawberry Point and Swales Precast Inc.

Breitbach, a Republican, served four years on the Strawberry Point City Council.

The newly created Iowa Senate District 28 includes all of Clayton and Allamakee counties, all but six northwest townships in Winneshiek County and portions of northeast Fayette County.  Democrat John Beard, a former State Representative from Decorah, is also running for the seat.
