Any manufacturing businesses can receive free Lean training in northeast Iowa through a partnership formed between the 7 Rivers Alliance, Allamakee County Economic Development, Northeast Iowa Community College and Western Technical College. The training is offered as a series of five progressive sessions ending in a certificate program or people can attend individual sessions. The first session is Thursday, January 12 and runs every Thursday through February 9, 2012. Each session runs from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Any manufacturing company can sign up for the series.
This training is offered at no cost through a Community Based Job Training Grant provided by the US Department of Labor, Employment and Training Administration that was awarded to Western Technical College. Any manufacturing company, regardless of location, is welcome.
Lean is a systematic approach to identifying and eliminating wasteful processes through continuous improvement. Waste processes are determined by what does not add value to the customer. Lean typically saves companies tens of thousands of dollars.
