Winneshiek Count and City of Decorah officials have been told that they have not won an $8 million grant for transportation purposes.
The city and county jointly applied for the "TIGER," or Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery, grant. The money would have helped to pay for $14 million in projects, including Decorah's Short Street project, the reconstruction of Locust Road, work on roads and trails in the Freeport area and a connection between Trout Run Trail and the Prairie Farmer Trail in Calmar.
