Winneshiek County Recycling Department Manager Terry Buenzow pays close attention to what happens to the recycling bins. Which has led him to what might be a surprising conclusion: big screen TVs are popular this year in Decorah.
Buenzow says the Monday morning cardboard pile at the recycling bins contained a lot of packaging for big screen TVs. And doing some more detective work, Buenzow believes a large number of people bought those big screen TVs for themselves. After all, he concludes, If the TVs were gifts, the cardboard boxes wouldn't show up until after Christmas!
