A Decorah man is proposing that the old stone building at the old fish hatchery near Twin Springs be moving to a location on the Trout Run Trail so it can be used as a restroom.
Ted Sojka says he has talked with two local stone masons, who told him the building could be moved to a location along the trail. Sojka says the building could be modernized with a new foundation and with new flush toilets connected to the city sewer and water systems.
Sojka spoke recently with the Decorah Parks & Recreation Board about his concept. Decorah Park Director Rick Edwards says the board was receptive to the idea. The Park-Rec Board thought locating the old stone building in Wold Park might be one possibility.
Sojka will next try to work out some of the details of the proposal.
