The Winneshiek County Sheriff's Department has released details of an accident Thursday morning on Highway 9 in Ridgeway.
Deputies say 21-year-old Justin Sommer of Waukon was stopped on Highway 9, waiting to turn left onto Short Street in Ridgeway. 32-year-old Tappi Hughes of Cresco did not see that Sommer had stopped and ran into the rear of Sommer's vehicle.
Hughes and two passengers--6-year-old Carter Fabien and 2-year-old Claire Osmunson--were injured in the accident and were taken by ambulance to Winneshiek Medical Center.
Hughes' vehicle was destroyed, while the truck being driven by Sommer suffered $3,000 in damages.
The Sheriff's Department says charges are pending in the accident.
