Decorah Police have been called to four traffic accidents in recent days.
An accident at 10:15 Wednesday morning occurred at Highway 9 and Old Stage Road. Police say 56-year-old Mark Kisner of Hawkeye was stopped in the left turn lane of Highway 9 when his car was struck from behind by a car driven by David Myers of Ridgeway. Meyers said he could not stop in time to avoid hitting Kisner's car. Meyers was ticketed for failure to stop in a clear distance.
On Tuesday morning another accident on Highway 9 involved 28-year-old Ross Stammeyer of Waukon turning into the path of a car driven by 50-year-old Maria Peters of Postville. Stammeyer was ticketed for improper lane change.
Also on Tuesday, 33-year-old Torey Smith-Keck of Ossian was ticketed for failure to maintain control after her car rear-ended a car owned by 24-year-old Juliane Poots of West Union. The accident occurred on Montgomery Street as Poots was stopped, waiting for the light to change.
Finally, 16-year-old Dylan Henning of Decorah hit the gas pedal instead of the brake when he was in the Decorah Bank & Trust parking lot. As a result, he hit a decorative wall, causing $2,500 in damages to his car and an unknown amount of damage to the wall. Henning was not ticketed.
