Winneshiek Medical Center was just barely in the black in July.
The hospital's latest financial statement shows total patient service revenue of just under $6 million for July. While that's a lot of money, it was $480,000 less than budgeted, caused mainly by a drop in outpatient surgical procedures.
Expenses at the hospital were almost $400,000 less than budgeted, so the hospital showed a net operating loss of $55,931. But when non operating revenues were added, the hospital ended the month making $6,878--or $68,000 less than budgeted.
