A reader suggestion on how to get your cell phone number off the political "robo-call" lists

A decorahnews.com reader earlier asked: "How (do Iowans) get their cell phones off political call lists if possible?"

Mr. Answer Person said political phone calls are exempt from the "Do Not Call" Registry.  However, decorahnews.com reader Lee e-mails:

"The simple way to avoid political phone calls is to remove your phone number from your voter registration.  Don't provide it when registering and contact the voter registration person in Decorah to find out how to "update" and change information on one's voter registration.  It can take awhile for lists to get updated, so do it now and hopefully you'll be off the 2012 calling lists.  This does not prevent them from getting your number from other sources (especially if you provide it when accessing political web sites and making donations - just don't give out your phone number in those situations).
