The Decorah Community School District has purchased over 1,000 new book titles for John Cline Elementary, Carrie Lee Elementary and Decorah Middle School.
The Scholastic Leveled Bookroom purchase is an integral part of implementing new instructional strategies. Decorah Community Schools' staff members have been engaged in professional development on best practices in instruction and curriculum design for the past four years.
Six copies of each book will be available for small group instruction. The book room includes various genres, topics, and content area knowledge books to expand the reading experience of each student at the "just right" level. The variety of texts will provide students with books that are interesting, appropriate, and personally relevant.
