UPDATE: Tree crashes, takes out power along Day Street

A large tree crashed to the ground along Day Street Tuesday afternoon, snapping power lines and shutting off electricity to numerous homes along the street.

City of Decorah street crews and an Alliant Energy power truck were called to the scene.  The city workers chopped up the tree and hauled it away.  The worker from Alliant energy was able to restore power to all of the neighborhood, except for the two homes next to where the tree had crashed.
