The Decorah Community School Board acted on several business agenda items Monday night.
Irrigation bids were approved for the baseball field, softball field, and Carrie Lee/Middle School playgrounds. The bid winner was The Cutting Edge of Eagle Grove, with a bid of $32,000. Casper Plumbing and Heating will install a tap for the water main for just under $5,000.
The board also approved purchase of a used 4-wheel drive pickup truck from Decorah Chevrolet-Cadillac for $16,000. The purchase of another vehicle, a Chevrolet Suburban, was delayed due to some bidding inconsistencies.
A Concurrent Enrollment Contract with NICC was approved. Preschool Collaborative 28E Agreements were also approved with Kinderhaus, Sunflower, St. Benedicts, Northeast Iowa Montessori, and Nisse Nursery. State funding for preschool was increased from the .3 FTE to .5 FTE, allowing families free preschool access. The agreement and funding does call for certified teachers in those programs.
