The National Cancer Institute has chosen Gundersen Lutheran to be part of a network of cancer centers with local access to state-of-the-art clinical trials for cancer prevention and treatment.
Gundersen Lutheran will receive about $1.7 million in funding over the next three years as part of the Community Clinical Oncology Program. The program will provide patients in Iowa, Wisconsin and Minnesota with access to NCI-sponsored cancer treatment trials and prevention and symptom management programs.
Gundersen Lutheran is now one of only nine community cancer centers in the nation to have both NCI's Community Cancer Centers Program and Community Clinical Oncology Program.
