The phone call made January 1st by Luther College student "Nabby" Baffour-Awuah to the 9-1-1 Dispatch Center in Decorah lasted less than 60 seconds.
The audio shows Baffour-Awuah struggled to tell a dispatcher where he was located. The dispatcher pressed him to be more specific and finally understood that Baffour-Awuah was calling from Luther College, but when the dispatcher asked for a location at Luther, the phone call went dead.
Emergency crews searched the campus, but were unable to find him until 8:00 a.m. that morning. Baffour died of hypothermia and exposure after being locked out of his dormitory following a night of drinking.
